Course overview

Year 1

You will get to know the  exciting and multi-faceted world of mechanical engineering by following courses such as Product Analysis, Applied Mechanics, Energy Technology, Materials Engineering and Manufacturing Technology. You will follow courses like Professionals Skills to develop you so called 'soft skills'. Besides the theory, you will be involved in practical lessons in the lab and work on projects. You will design your own product and focus on system analysis. You will also get an introduction to the operation of small systems, such as combustion engines. Lastly, you will learn about drives and installations.

Year 2

Projects will become more extensive and challenging and we expect you to show more initiative and ingenuity. Your tutors and coaches will, of course, supervise and coach you to finish your projects. Besides that, you will do an internship at a company of your own choosing.

Year 3

You can personalise your programme to fit your interests and ambitions by choosing a minor at Hanze UAS, another University of Applied Science in the Netherlands or abroad. The second semester you will round off your programme by engaging in a self-chosen graduation project at a(n) (inter)national company. During your graduation you can prove that you are the starting mechanical engineering professional the work field is waiting for!

After your studies

Pursue a master’s degree

After successful completion of the Mechanical Engineering programme, you can pursue a Master in Science degree. At Hanze UAS you can choose to follow the European Master in Renewable Energy or Smart Systems Engineering programme, which offers you the unique possibility of earning your Master’s degree in just 4,5 years!

As a Mechanical Engineering master you could choose the following programmes:
