The maritime sector faces significant challenges: a shortage of qualified personnel, evolving regulations, and the ongoing transition toward more sustainable and efficient shipping management. The MyCaDO (My Career Development Online) project aims to develop an innovative digital learning environment that supports maritime professionals in their education, development, and career planning. Through tailored learning modules, up-to-date information, and strategic growth opportunities, MyCaDO helps strengthen talent, drive innovation, and contribute to a resilient and competitive maritime industry in the northern Netherlands.

Digital platform for maritime professionals

The maritime industry faces a shortage of skilled shipping professionals, and there is an increasing need for job requirements. However, to train these professionals, it is necessary to have efficient personnel training and a transparent qualification system. Furthermore, there are challenges in operational and regulatory requirements, continuously changing in line with ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) changes.
The goal of the project MyCaDO is to develop a digital platform that supports maritime professionals in their training and professional development.

The purpose of the project group is to create a digital platform that will assist shipping professionals in training and developing their skills. The project group aims to achieve the following with the MyCaDO system:

Provide courses on industry standards, competency needs, and modern learning technologies;
Offer information and guidance for shipping professionals in making career path decisions;
Develop personalized career development roadmaps to assist shipping professionals in growing and gaining knowledge.

Improve wellbeing, safety and operational performance and stimulate continuous professional development of maritime professionals.

The focus is to facilitate learning organizations that support meaningful and sustainable professional development.
Develop evidence-based, flexible, customized learning modules to foster maritime professionals’ competence, commitment and contributions beyond compliance.
