The Prins Claus Conservatorium organises a number of large productions each year. On July 5th, 2024, we closed the season with a showcase concert in the packed main stage (Grote Zaal) of SPOT/De Oosterpoort in Groningen. The concert took the audience on a summery musical journey through all our deparments: Classical Music, Jazz, Music in Education and Composition & Music Production.

The programme consisted of a great diversity of works, such as Gershwin’s swining ‘Summer Time’ from the opera Porgy & Bess, performed by our students in a Metropole orchestra, led by Bert Pfeiffer. Our choir and  string orchestra performed the romantic ‘Cavelleria Rusticana’ by the Italian composer Pietro Mascagni.

Music in Education students gave an impression of the Music Theatre Week and our Tower of Power Band added the necessary soul & funk to the programme. Our Composition & Music Production students brought their own work to life on stage. The production was directed by theatre maker Eric Robillard, alumnus of the Music in Education programme. Conductor Louis Buskens led the choir, which consists of students from all departments of the conservatoire.
