Goals of the Programme (Graduate Profile)
MIC graduates are well-rounded and responsible leaders of international communication, known for their strategic thinking and criticality. MIC graduates demonstrate leadership capabilities needed to work at expert managerial or consultancy levels. They can bring a global perspective to the challenges and opportunities of the digital and sustainable society. They embrace complexity, anticipate future change and propose innovative solutions to open-ended (emerging) communication problems, using various perspectives from different disciplines.
Tailored Content
We offer four core modules to help you develop in your current workplace or prepare for a career shift. Once you finish these four modules, you can choose to do a fifth module, the graduation project, and get your master's degree. Each module is designed to be immediately applicable, enabling you to implement new insights and innovations in your workplace from day one. All four modules share a common structure. The modules deal with core topics specific to a professional communication role. Each module includes theory, research, leadership skills, practical applications, and selected assignments that can be completed at the workplace. The graduation project module is supported through supervision.
Module 1: Corporate Communication Consultant (15 EC)
This module focuses on the dynamic and changing role of the corporate communication consultant. By working with different stakeholders and creating culturally sensitive messaging, corporate communication leaders build accountability and stakeholder engagement, shaping the company’s reputation and success on a global scale. Module 2: Strategic Brand Manager (15 EC)
This module provides advanced knowledge and skills essential for a strategic international brand manager. You will learn to develop brand strategies that align with organizational purpose and cultural values while resonating across diverse markets. Topics include brand managemt, marketing communication, online research, and intercultural communication theory. More information and apply for this module.
Module 3: Issues and Crisis Communication Strategist (15 EC)
Even minor issues can quickly escalate into major crises in today's societies, especially with news spreading to the public within minutes. As an issues and crisis communication strategist, you will address crisis challenges in fast-developing digital media arenas. More information and apply for this module.
Module 4: Behavioural Change Facilitator (15 EC)
Making communications more effective lies at the heart of successful behaviour change initiatives and there is a real business need for communicators to design their communications through a behavioural lens. As an international facilitator, you will promote behavior change among global stakeholders by creating and implementing strategies and interventions that benefit individuals and societies. Module 5: Graduation Project (30 EC)
The Graduation Project signifies the completion of your entire master's degree in terms of understanding the complexities of a global context and working environment. By the end of the semester, you will produce a research report and a professional communication strategy that satisfies your company's communication requirements and the criteria of a professional master's program.
