Our motto – Share your talent. Move the world – captures Hanze University of Applied Sciences in a nutshell. In order to realise our ambition to tackle today’s pressing challenges, collaborations with our regional partners are important. These include the business community, civic organisations, policymakers, politicians, fellow educational institutions, etcetera.
Collaboration
We at Hanze, have many strong bilateral collaborations with many different partners in the region, related to specific projects. We participate actively in regional initiatives such as the University of the North, the New Energy Coalition and The Groningen Alliance and facilitate or participate in numerous living labs, which aim to foster regional innovation ecosystems focussed on knowledge development and dissemination.
We are on this journey that is still in progress, learning to find ways to successfully transfer lessons learnt from individual projects to ensure lasting impact on the region and its innovation ecosystems. Prevailing collaborations need to go beyond individual projects on an ad hoc basis; we need to work towards sustained investments for a knowledge-driven regional economy. We do this in a broad variety of partnerships.
Working together on societal challenges
We work together in a broad variety of partnerships.
UASNL is a collaboration of 20 Dutch Universities of Applied Sciences (UAS), who work together to strengthen their European research profile. Through their EU office in Brussels, UASNL contributes to policy developments, builds European partnerships and shows the value of applied research in answering the challenges Europe faces. In UAS, knowledge valorisation, applied scientific research and educational activities are strongly intertwined. Labs, projects, internships and workplace learning are often implemented in research programmes.

For 25 years, Hanze has been committed to improving education in developing countries to ensure that everyone has access to quality education. We do this by contributing to the self-reliance of higher education institutions in developing countries. These activities are coordinated within Hanze by the Hanze Centre for Development Cooperation (HCDC), a small expertise agency in the field of development cooperation. The cenre consists of three different components: Hanze Capacity building, Hanze University Foundation and the Hanze East Africa Hub.
