Ayse knew she wanted to focus on the energy field and discovered the European Master in Sustainable Energy System Management at Hanze. This master integrates business, social, political, and technical dimensions of the energy sector - a combination that aligns perfectly with her career goals and interests.

'I chose to pursue a master's programme at a university of applied sciences because of the hands-on, applied approach to learning. The programme offers practical experiences like group projects, presentations, real-world case studies, and direct interaction with stakeholders. Field trips also provide an opportunity to see theoretical concepts in action, enhancing my educational experience.'

'When deciding on a master’s programme, I knew I wanted to focus on the energy field. After researching several options, I found that many were either too technical or overly focused on the social aspects, which didn't appeal to me. That's when I discovered the European Master in Sustainable Energy System Management at Hanze. What stood out to me was its balanced curriculum, which integrates business, social, political, and technical dimensions of the energy sector. This combination aligned perfectly with my career goals and interests.'

'So far, my experience in the program has been very positive. I've gained valuable knowledge, particularly in areas like modeling energy systems. The campus, especially the Energy Academy building and ENTRANCE, has provided an inspiring environment. That said, there have been a few organizational challenges, such as the need for earlier release of the academic calendar to help with planning.'

'One of the most rewarding aspects of the program is its strong connection to the professional field. We've work closely with companies and stakeholders through projects, field trips, and guest lectures. These experiences have given me real-world insights into the business side of the energy sector, helping me to better understand how things operate and preparing me for future career opportunities.'

'A key advantage of pursuing a master's programme at a university of applied sciences is the strong focus on practical solutions to real-world challenges. Additionally, the opportunity to work in an international environment adds valuable perspectives and enriches the learning experience.'

'Currently, I am working on a project related to the heat grid transition for Ameland Island. The island is moving away from natural gas and transitioning to geothermal energy. Our team has engaged with stakeholders and is developing a model to support their decision-making process. This project is something I am proud to be part of, as it contributes to a sustainable transformation in the island's energy infrastructure.'
