Biomonitoring with biosensors
- Research project
Due to an increasingly ageing population and a shortage of healthcare workers, there is a need for better biomonitoring equipment. These devices can help improve diagnostics, patient care, and independent monitoring by patients themselves. The ‘Improving Patient Care Through Advanced Biomonitoring Solutions’ project focuses on measuring key biomarkers in bodily fluids, such as urine, sweat and saliva.
The target groups for this technology are (caregivers of) patients with severe acute illness and chronic diseases such as kidney disease, cardiovascular disease and diabetes. For these target groups, it is especially important to have better monitoring devices that allow patients to better monitor their health both at home and in the hospital or care facility. This is especially valuable for home care.
The project is funded by the Just Transition Fund, and the project's lead partner is ParaMedir.
