The professorship Life Sciences & Renewable Energy will investigate the production of renewable molecules as energy carriers using chemical and biological processes and technologies. The research group does research into various issues in the field of bioenergy. For instance: how do biological and (electro)chemical processes play a role in the production of green gases? Or how can different processes and technologies be integrated to maximise yields?
Zohre ‘Zuzi’ Kurt is the professor that leads the research group. Zohre has extensive experience in teaching and doing research in chemical process technologies. 'My plans as professor include leading innovative research projects into the production of renewable molecules using chemical and biological processes. Developing an interesting curriculum and providing mentorship to students/researchers are important aspects of my role. I also try to foster strong interdisciplinary collaborations within the college and with external partners to encourage impactful research focused on sustainability.'
